The Empty Lanes

The noises, the crowd that never allows us to walk straight, the traffic jam that has become a part of our life, fighting with poor vegetable sellers, hanging out with friends for pizza with our smartphones as a side dish as always, the kids who sell flowers, the people we wish to avoid on a daily basis, and the excuses we make just because we aren’t interested. We miss everything, the good and the bad which we tried to avoid earlier or took for granted. Empty lanes feel sort of creepy.

In this busy world, always running after something, sometimes not even knowing what it is that we’re running after. Empty lanes give a haunted vibe, and it’s really scary. Now, we’re all stuck at home, not allowed to go outside and do the things that we want to do. Life is unpredictable and we can’t control it. We have tried to have a timetable for life, not realising that we don’t have the power to make it. All the time we tried to avoid the ultimate truth and thought of ourselves.

We’ve money, power, and control but it only took a tiny virus to lock us home. It proves how weak we’re, and how badly we need each other. We’re sick and stuck at home, however empty lanes don’t represent sadness. It represents a realisation that we can’t control our lives and we need each other to survive.

It also shows the healing of nature, how amazing nature is when we stop destroying it. This catastrophic situation is a boon for nature, the environment and animals. No vehicles are used, everybody is instructed to stay indoors due to strict lockdown which decreases the rate of environmental pollution

The COVID-19 has changed many things and created a new-normal. Lifestyle has changed, and people have become more health conscious. Masks and sanitizers have become a part of our routine life and people spend enough time with their family. Students and individuals are able to work on their hidden skills to make it finer  apart from studies. People are becoming more creative.

Yes, this crisis has halted the nation’s economy but it’s said that due to Covid-19 industry dynamics might turn favourable for India. In the coming days, our country might get big opportunities to attract investors. I believe this crisis shall play a significant role in resetting India and people’s lives as well.

Let’s pray for a day when we can enjoy those busy lanes again. Curse the traffic jam for ruining our valuable time, question the increased cost of vegetables, strolling down the streets for no reason, and hang out with friends. At that time, we shouldn’t forget that our life is very fragile. So, happiness, health and the people we love matter the most.
